Our hair accessories are luxury items that we recommend taking good care of to ensure longevity. Here are a few practical tips:

Avoid water and humidity

Acetate is a delicate material that can deform or lose its color when exposed to excessive water or moisture. We suggest you therefore to remove your hair accessories before showering, swimming or participating in any other activity where they could be exposed to moisture. Keep them away from humid environments, such as bathrooms.

Avoid cosmetic products

To preserve the shine of your hair accessories, we recommend avoiding contact with make-up, creams, hairsprays and perfumes. We suggest waiting at least 30 minutes after applying any cosmetic product to put on your Mauliébris accessories, to allow volatile compounds to evaporate.

To clean your accessories

To remove accumulated dirt or residue, use a microfiber cloth to gently wipe the surface of your accessories. Avoid using harsh chemicals, solvents or detergents, as they may damage the material. If needed, you can lightly dampen the cloth with warm water and add a drop of liquid soap. Then remove the soap by wiping gently with the damp cloth, without immersing your accessory in water, to avoid damaging the metal components. Finally, carefully dry the accessory with a soft, clean cloth. 

Proper storage

To prevent scratches or deformations, we recommend storing your acetate hair accessories in a dry place away from direct sunlight. You can use a soft fabric-lined storage box or your Mauliébris pouch to protect them from dust and unwanted friction. Avoid stacking them with other objects, to prevent any damage.

Avoid excessive heat

Acetate is sensitive to heat, so it's best not to expose your acetate hair accessories to direct heat sources, such as hairdryers, straightening or radiators. Also avoid leaving them in places exposed to excessive heat, such as the inside of a car parked in the sun.
